As I posted earlier, one of the ways to ease the transition to moving abroad is to meet other expats who are going through the same issues you are. Cheryl and Doug are a mother and son from Canada who are living in Monteverde for six months while Doug attends Creativa. Cheryl is a yoga instructor, and we have been spending time together at yoga class. Check out her blog where she talks about life in Monteverde.
In one of Cheryl’s most recent posts, she talks about how to get food in Monteverde. Cheryl lives up the mountain from us in Monteverde proper. We live in Cerro Plano, one of the neighborhoods surrounding the town of Santa Elena. While I live very close to the markets and the Feria de Agricultor (farmer’s market), her trek is longer than mine. Remember most of us don’t have cars! She shops at the Whole Foods Market, as do most of our expat and Tico friends who live in Monteverde proper, but as featured in her blog, she also makes it to the Feria de Agricultor and the produce market in Santa Elena. Check out her blog!
